Birthday Anniversary of Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah

Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah was born on December 25th, 1876 in Karachi. Muhammad Ali Jinnah was a lawyer, politician and the founder of Pakistan. Muhammad Ali Jinnah served as leader of the All India Muslim League from 1913 until Pakistan's independence on 14 August 1947, and then as Pakistan's first Governor-General until his death.

The day starts with recitation of the Holy Quran at Quaid’s Mausoleum in Karachi, along with a change-of-guards ceremony. Cadets of Pakistan Military Academy Kakul took charge of the duty at around 8 AM local time. The national flag hoist atop all public and private buildings.

Quaid-e-Azam always believed that Muslim Hindu unity in India was possible but over the years the relationship between the Muslim and Hindu communities had deteriorated to such a point that he reluctantly accepted that the best way to protect the rights of Indian Muslims was through partition.

In 1940, Jinnah had come to believe that Muslims of the Indian subcontinent should have their own state, that's why he suggested the idea of the partition of India to create Pakistan and led negotiations with the British government. This resulted in the partition of India and the creation of the state of Pakistan on August 14, 1947.

As the first Governor-General of Pakistan, Jinnah worked to establish the new nation's government and policies, and to aid the millions of Muslim migrants who had emigrated from the new nation of India to Pakistan after independence, personally supervising the establishment of refugee camps. Muhammad Ali Jinnah died at the age of 71 in September 1948, just over a year after Pakistan gained independence from the United Kingdom.
